Description
The Bergara Premier barreled action in .300 PRC is built for the shooter who wants a serious foundation for a custom long-range rifle without starting from a bare receiver. It arrives ready to drop into a Remington 700 footprint chassis or stock, which opens up a wide range of aftermarket options without requiring custom inlet work. The action itself features a spiral-fluted bolt body, an enlarged bolt handle for positive cycling under pressure, a sliding plate extractor, and a dual ejector — details that matter when the priority is reliability over extended range sessions or in field conditions where fouling builds up.
The No. 4 contour barrel strikes a deliberate balance: it sheds enough mass to make the build practical in the field while retaining the stiffness needed for consistent accuracy as the barrel heats. The material is 416 stainless steel, which handles weather exposure without the maintenance demands of a blued surface. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, and a thread protector is included so the crown is protected until you decide on a device. The 1-in-9 inch twist rate is well matched to the .300 PRC’s typical bullet weights — the cartridge is designed around long, high-BC projectiles in the 212- to 250-grain range, and a faster twist than this would be marginal overkill while a slower one would lose stability with those heavier options. Scope mounting uses the Remington 700 pattern with 8-40 threading, so standard bases and rings fit without adapters. The action also accepts Remington 700 pattern triggers, giving you control over the fire control without being locked into a proprietary system. The finished weight of 4.2 pounds leaves room in a build budget for a stock without pushing the completed rifle into uncomfortable carry weight.
