Description
The Bergara Premier Series Barreled Action in .300 PRC is built for handloaders, custom rifle builders, and serious long-range hunters who want a precision-fitted barrel and action without sourcing and fitting components separately. It ships ready to drop into a compatible chassis or stock, which means the critical work of threading, headspacing, and timing is already done to Bergara’s production standards rather than left to the builder.
The barrel is machined from 416 stainless steel, a grade chosen for its dimensional stability across temperature swings and its resistance to bore erosion from high-velocity cartridges — both relevant concerns with the .300 PRC, which runs at pressures that accelerate wear in less stable alloys. The No. 5.5 contour sits between a sporter and a heavy varmint profile: substantial enough to resist barrel whip during sustained strings of fire, light enough that the finished rifle won’t punish you on a mountain pack-out.
A 1-in-9-inch twist rate is well matched to the .300 PRC’s typical bullet range, which skews toward high-BC, heavy-for-caliber projectiles in the 200–230 grain class. Faster twists can over-stabilize shorter, lighter bullets; this rate keeps the door open to a wider selection without sacrificing gyroscopic stability for the long, sleek bullets the cartridge was designed around.
The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 with a thread protector included, so the barrel is ready for a muzzle brake or other muzzle device without additional machining. Scope mounting uses the Remington 700 pattern with 8-40 threads — one of the most widely supported bases in the aftermarket, which gives builders broad flexibility when selecting rings and mounts. The raw stainless finish leaves the metal uncoated, which some builders prefer as a neutral starting point for their own surface treatment.
