Description
The Bergara Premier Series Barreled Action in 7mm PRC is built for precision hunters and long-range shooters who want a capable, drop-in foundation for a custom build without starting from scratch. It pairs Bergara’s Premier bolt action—machined to accept Remington 700-pattern scope bases with 8-40 threads—with a No. 6 CURE barrel, which combines a 416 stainless steel core with a carbon fiber wrap. That construction pulls weight out of a profile that would otherwise be heavy for field work, while the carbon layer helps manage heat across a sustained shooting session more effectively than bare stainless of equivalent diameter.
The 7mm PRC cartridge runs on the long side for a standard short-action, so Bergara chambers it in a long action here, which keeps the bullet seated to optimal depth without cramping overall cartridge length. The 1-in-8″ twist rate is fast enough to stabilize the heaviest 7mm projectiles currently in production—think 180-grain and beyond—giving handloaders and factory-ammo shooters alike access to the highest-BC options in the caliber. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector included, leaving the door open for a muzzle device of the shooter’s choice. At 4.2 pounds before stock and optic, it imposes minimal weight penalty at the start of a build aimed at a lightweight hunting rig. Scope mounting follows the Remington 700 footprint, so the selection of compatible bases and rings is broad.
