Description
The BMR-X Steel is built for rimfire competitors and serious precision shooters who want a platform that behaves like a full-size precision rifle without the centerfire overhead. The stock design is drawn directly from Bergara’s BXR chassis work: an adjustable length-of-pull lets you dial in the fit for different shooting positions, a vertical pistol grip reduces lateral torque on the action, and a flat forend maximizes contact with a bag or rest so the rifle sits consistently from shot to shot without canting.
The No. 6 profile 4140 CrMo steel barrel adds meaningful mass forward of the action. That weight dampens barrel harmonics during the shot cycle and slows the rifle’s return to battery between rounds, both of which contribute to tighter groups at speed in timed rimfire stages. The 1-in-16 twist rate is well matched to .22 WMR — it stabilizes the heavier, longer projectiles common in that cartridge without over-spinning lighter loads and washing out accuracy.
The match chamber is cut to tighter tolerances than a standard production chamber, which reduces the headspace variation that causes round-to-round inconsistency. The 30 MOA rail built into the receiver gives scope adjustments a head start on elevation, which matters when you’re dialing for longer rimfire distances and want to keep your turrets centered in their range. The Bergara Performance Trigger is externally adjustable via a set screw, so pull weight can be tuned without removing the barreled action from the stock. Two magazine sizes ship with the rifle, giving you options for stage-legal capacity or a lower-profile fit in a rest.
