Description
The Bergara Premier Competition is built around one purpose: showing up to a Precision Rifle Series match without needing to modify anything before you shoot. It is aimed at competitors who want a production-class rifle that can run immediately against custom builds, and at serious long-range shooters who do not want to piece together a chassis rig from scratch.
The 6mm GT cartridge sits at the center of this design. It is a short-action round optimized for the bullet weights and velocities that PRS competitors have converged on — specifically the heavier, high-BC 6mm projectiles in the 105–115 grain range. The 1-in-7.5-inch twist rate stabilizes that weight class well and gives you flexibility as match-legal bullet options continue to develop in that caliber. A faster twist applied to lighter bullets would over-stabilize them at typical match distances; this rate is chosen for the loads the round is actually used with.
The stainless barrel is profiled heavier than a hunting taper for a deliberate reason: more mass slows the rate at which the barrel heats during a stage with multiple strings of fire, and a stiffer barrel moves less as it does warm up, keeping point of impact more consistent across a full stage. The 26-inch length recovers velocity that a shorter tube would sacrifice and helps keep supersonic flight to the longer distances common in PRS courses of fire.
The MPA BA Chassis gives the shooter a fully adjustable platform — length of pull, cheek height, and the Arca Swiss rail along the bottom for quick adjustment on a tripod or bag without switching hardware. The TriggerTech Special uses Frictionless Release Technology, which eliminates the sliding friction found in conventional sear designs and produces a break with no detectable creep. Scope mounting follows the Remington 700 footprint with 8-40 screws, so base selection is straightforward.
