Description
The B-14 Wilderness HMR Carbon is built for hunters and long-range shooters who need a precision bolt gun light enough to carry into the backcountry without giving up the barrel length that makes 6.5 PRC effective at extended distances. It is a working rifle for demanding conditions, not a range toy.
The barrel is Bergara’s CURE Carbon Fiber design — a steel core wrapped in carbon fiber. The steel liner preserves the rifling quality Bergara builds its reputation on, while the carbon wrap sheds meaningful weight compared to a full steel tube of the same profile and stiffness. For a cartridge generating the pressures 6.5 PRC does, that steel core matters: you are not sacrificing barrel integrity for the weight savings. The 1-in-8 inch twist is fast enough to stabilize the long, high-BC projectiles the 6.5 PRC was designed around, so you are not limited to lighter bullets to get adequate stabilization. The barrel is threaded and ships with Bergara’s Omni muzzle brake, which can be swapped for a suppressor or alternate device without needing to rethread.
The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a coned bolt nose and breech, a geometry that guides cartridges into the chamber smoothly and aids reliable extraction under field conditions. The stock is Bergara’s HMR molded design built around a mini-chassis — the chassis bed stiffens the stock and provides a consistent, repeatable interface between action and stock that a purely polymer design cannot match. It also makes the rifle compatible with AICS-pattern magazines, a widely supported format. The included three-round AICS magazine reflects the longer overall length of the 6.5 PRC cartridge. A two-position safety gives a clear mechanical disconnect between ready and safe without requiring the shooter to take their hand off the grip.
