Description
The B-14 Ridge is Bergara’s answer to the serious big-game hunter who wants a working rifle built around a genuinely accurate barrel without paying for a custom shop. It is a straightforward bolt gun in a synthetic stock, designed to go into the field and come back dirty without ceremony.
The barrel is made from 4140 chrome-molybdenum steel and finished in Graphite Black Cerakote, which resists moisture and abrasion better than blued steel — a practical choice for a hunting rifle that will see weather. The 1-in-10″ twist rate is well suited to the heavy, high-BC projectiles that make .300 Winchester Magnum useful at longer ranges; you are not limited to lighter loads, but this twist rate stabilizes the 180- to 220-grain bullets most hunters reach for in this chambering.
The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a sliding plate extractor and a coned bolt nose and breech. The cone geometry guides cartridges into the chamber under a wider range of orientations than a square-cut breech, which matters when you are cycling the bolt quickly or feeding from an awkward position. The extractor’s sliding plate design maintains tension across the full arc of bolt rotation rather than relying on a single point of contact, which contributes to consistent extraction.
The magazine is an internal box with a hinged floor plate, holding three magnum rounds. That format keeps the rifle’s profile slim and eliminates a detachable magazine as a point of failure in the field. The barrel is threaded at 1/2″-28 tpi, leaving the muzzle ready for a brake or other device without gunsmithing. Bergara backs the rifle with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee, which sets a defined performance floor rather than leaving accuracy as an open question.
