The Sierra Wilderness is Bergara’s answer to a specific problem: hunting rifles that are accurate enough for long-range work tend to be too heavy for serious backcountry travel. This one is built around that trade-off, shedding the mass of the heavier HMR platform to produce something a hunter can carry all day without fatigue catching up before the shot does.

The 22 Creedmoor cartridge sits in an interesting position—it pushes relatively light, high-BC bullets fast enough to reach out at distance while keeping recoil manageable, and the 1:8 twist rate is matched to that class of projectile. Faster-twist barrels stabilize longer, heavier bullets; at 1:8, this rifle is well-suited to the high-BC 75- to 88-grain bullets that make the 22 Creedmoor worth using at extended ranges, rather than the lighter varmint-weight projectiles that dominate other 22-caliber chamberings.

The Omni muzzlebrake on the threaded muzzle redirects propellant gases to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise, which matters from field shooting positions where you rarely have the support that bench work provides. The barrel threads at 5/8×24 also leave the option open to run a suppressor. The Wilderness Camo synthetic stock with black webbing keeps the build light while providing durability in rough conditions, and the Sniper Grey Cerakote finish on the metal resists corrosion without the weight penalty of a heavier coating. The two-position thumb safety is straightforward and fast to operate under field conditions. The adjustable trigger lets a shooter set the break weight to match their preference, which pays dividends when a shot has to go off in a position that isn’t ideal.
