The B-14 Timber is Bergara’s answer to the question of what a production hunting rifle looks like when built by a company whose primary business is manufacturing barrels. It is aimed at the hunter who wants hand-fitted, custom-shop quality in a rifle that can be taken into the field without guilt — one that earns its keep on deer, elk, or bear and is accurate enough to make shots count at extended range.

The stock is a Monte Carlo-style walnut with a straight, classic profile that balances well on a rest or in the hand. Walnut is denser and heavier than synthetic alternatives, which has a practical benefit: it absorbs some of the impulse from a .30-06 load, making the rifle more comfortable to shoot from the bench during load development. The action sits in a Graphite Black Cerakote finish over 4140 CrMo steel, which offers meaningful corrosion resistance for a wood-stocked rifle that will inevitably see wet weather.

The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a coned nose and breech — a geometry that guides cartridges into the chamber reliably even when hands are cold and movements are hurried. A sliding plate extractor maintains consistent tension across the full travel of the bolt stroke rather than snapping over the case rim at the moment of chambering, which contributes to positive extraction under fouled conditions. The trigger is curved and ships set at approximately three pounds, with a pull character suited to field use.

The barrel is drilled and tapped to accept Remington 700-pattern rings and bases, which keeps the mounting options broad without requiring proprietary hardware. The 1-in-10-inch twist rate is well-suited to the range of bullet weights most commonly loaded in .30-06 — from 150-grain hunting rounds through 180-grain controlled-expansion bullets — without demanding premium heavy-for-caliber projectiles to stabilize properly.
