The trade-off is that aluminum cases are not reloadable, but for a shooter buying in bulk strictly for trigger time, that is rarely a concern.
The 230-grain full metal jacket projectile is the standard training weight for .45 ACP, matching the profile and felt impulse of most defensive loads without the defensive price. That consistency matters when the goal is building muscle memory — your grip, stance, and split times should reflect what the pistol actually does under carry conditions. At 845 feet per second, the load runs at a velocity typical for this cartridge from a standard-length pistol barrel, keeping recoil predictable and controllable across long range sessions.
CCI uses quality primers and bullets across the Blazer Aluminum line to keep the reliability high enough for semi-automatic pistols, where case integrity and consistent ignition are more critical than in a revolver. The aluminum case is heat-treated to handle chamber pressures reliably, even if it will not spring back for another pass through the press.
