Burn Proof Gear’s Suppressor Cover Heavy is built for shooters who run their suppressors hard — sustained fire, full-auto strings, close-quarters transitions — and need to keep their hands, legs, and gear clear of the heat that builds up during those sessions. It also cuts the heat mirage that can distort a sight picture during precision work, and reduces infrared signature in low-light or night operations.

The cover uses a two-layer construction that addresses suppressor heat from both directions. The outer layer is DuPont Kevlar, a material rated to withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit — roughly the heat generated by approximately 180 rounds of M855 in rapid succession. Beneath that sits an inner liner of fiberglass mesh sleeving rated to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which handles the more extreme, direct heat contact at the suppressor’s surface before it ever reaches the outer layer. Each component is replaceable independently, so wear on one part does not require replacing the entire cover.

The fit is intentional rather than approximate. The cover is sized to run half an inch longer than the suppressor it’s designed for, which allows the ends to cinch around the front and rear of the can and lock it in place without adhesives or fasteners. Once installed on a 1.5-inch diameter suppressor, the added thickness of the cover brings the overall outside diameter to no more than 1.75 inches — a meaningful consideration if the suppressor runs close to a handguard or other hardware.
