Description

The Bushnell A5 is a roof-prism binocular built for hunters and field observers who want capable glass in a package that can take weather without ceremony. The 10x magnification is a practical choice for open-country glassing — enough reach to evaluate game at distance without the narrowed field of view and hand-shake sensitivity that higher powers bring. The 42mm objective gathers sufficient light for low-angle morning and evening use, which is when most hunting observation actually happens.

Bushnell coats the BAK4 prisms with both dielectric and phase-correction coatings. Dielectric coatings push reflectivity higher than standard silver or aluminum mirror coatings, while phase correction compensates for the light interference that roof-prism designs introduce — together they preserve contrast and color fidelity that a bare-prism roof design would sacrifice. The fully multicoated objective and ocular lenses extend that commitment across the entire optical path rather than treating only one or two surfaces.

EXO Barrier is Bushnell’s lens treatment that bonds to the glass at a molecular level to repel water, oil, and debris.
