Description

CCI’s centerfire handgun shotshells are purpose-built for close-range pest control — snakes, rats, and similar small targets where a single projectile offers too little margin for error and a full-power load would be overkill. The #9 shot charge spreads quickly after leaving the muzzle, giving you a wider pattern at the distances where these encounters actually happen, typically a few feet to perhaps fifteen. That tight effective range is a trade-off worth understanding: the small pellets lose energy fast, which keeps overpenetration and collateral damage to a minimum in confined spaces, but also means these are not a substitute for conventional defensive or hunting ammunition at any meaningful distance.

The cartridges are loaded to function in revolvers and single-shot pistols chambered for .357 Magnum or .38 Special. Rifled barrels cause the shot column to spin, which opens the pattern into a doughnut shape rather than a tight circle — something to factor in when sizing up a shot. Muzzle velocity is rated at 1,000 feet per second, keeping the loads manageable in terms of felt recoil while still delivering enough energy to dispatch small pests at arm’s length. Cases are aluminum. Each box holds ten rounds and is designed to be reusable, which is a practical detail when you’re storing a handful of these alongside conventional loads for occasional use rather than burning through them at volume.
