The premise is simple: instead of a conventional projectile, the cartridge houses a payload of No. 4 lead shot, which spreads on exit and covers the kind of irregular, fast-moving targets that a single bullet would likely miss.

The distinction between this load and standard handgun shotshells comes down to shot size. No. 4 shot carries more mass and energy per pellet than the finer No. 9 shot found in many pest-control loads, which translates to a wider effective range and better performance against pests that are larger or tougher than a small rodent. You give up some pellet count, but you gain meaningful capability at distances where finer shot has already run out of authority.

At 800 feet per second, the load moves at a velocity that keeps patterns tight enough at close range to concentrate energy where it counts, while still allowing the shot column to spread appropriately before it reaches a target a few yards out. The 140-grain payload is housed in a brass case and packed in reusable boxes of ten rounds. The load is intended for revolvers chambered in .45 Colt and is not recommended for ported barrels, ported compensators, or use in rifles. Cylinder lockup is possible in lightweight revolvers due to capsule movement under recoil, so firearm selection matters. Cases are marked non-reloadable and should not be resized or reloaded.
