By launching a charge of #9 shot from a standard revolver chamber, this round turns a handgun into a short-range pest control tool without requiring a dedicated firearm or a choke system of any kind.

The #9 shot size is the finest commonly loaded in pistol shotshells, which means a denser pattern and more pellets in the air compared to coarser shot sizes. That density is the point at a few feet — the spread is still tight enough to be useful against snakes on a trail, rodents in a barn, or small birds near a crop. Beyond roughly ten feet the pattern opens and energy per pellet drops off quickly, so this is not a load to reach for at distance. It is a close-quarters utility round, and it does that job cleanly.
