CCI’s Shotshell load in .45 ACP is built for one job: putting a short-range pattern on small pests without reaching for a dedicated long gun. That makes it a practical choice for barn use, outbuildings, or anywhere you want to deal with snakes, mice, or other close-quarters nuisances using a handgun already on your hip.

The shot payload is contained in a rigid plastic capsule seated in the case mouth. When the round is fired, the capsule breaks apart as it contacts the rifling, releasing the #9 shot and allowing it to spread. Because the shot isn’t traveling the barrel as loose pellets, the rifling sees minimal wear from the payload itself. The flexible base wad seals the case against gas blow-by, keeping pressure behind the charge where it belongs and maintaining consistent performance round to round.

The aluminum case keeps weight down and the round feeds from a standard magazine without modification. CCI loads these over their own primers, which contributes to the reliable ignition the design depends on — a squib or hangfire with a capsule-type round creates a different kind of problem than a conventional FMJ failure, so primer reliability matters more here than in a standard load.

Each box contains ten rounds, which is a sensible quantity given the specialized nature of the application. These aren’t range ammo — they’re a tool for a specific situation, and ten rounds per box reflects that. The reusable box packaging keeps them organized and protected between uses.
