The Colt Combat Elite Government is a full-size 1911 built for shooters who want a duty-capable platform with provisions for modern optics without abandoning the classic single-action trigger feel that makes the 1911 worth shooting in the first place. It suits the defensive shooter who prefers a 1911’s manual safety discipline and deliberate trigger, and who wants the option to mount a red dot without sending the pistol out for custom milling work.

The slide is factory-cut for optic mounting, which means the dovetail geometry and slide mass are engineered for that purpose from the start rather than retrofitted. Novak night sights are already installed, so the pistol is usable in low-light conditions out of the box whether or not you choose to run an optic. The Two-Tone Elite finish pairs a stainless steel barrel with a black-finished slide, and the stainless construction of the barrel carries practical corrosion resistance alongside its visual contrast.

G10 half-check grips with a scalloped cut give a consistent grip surface under recoil without relying on aggressive texturing that wears on concealment gear. The dual spring recoil system does two things: it spreads recoil impulse across more travel, and it reduces the cycling stress on the frame over the service life of the pistol. Both a thumb safety and a grip safety are present, which is standard 1911 architecture — the grip safety in particular means the pistol will not fire unless it is properly seated in a firing grip. One eight-round magazine is included.
