Description
The Combat Elite is Colt’s answer to the serious shooter who wants a Government-size 1911 ready for a red-dot without sending the pistol out for machining. The slide comes cut from the factory, so a compact pistol optic drops straight onto a pre-machined footprint and sits low enough to co-witness with the Novak iron sights already installed — meaning you’re not forced to choose between irons and glass during the transition to a dot.
The two-tone Elite finish pairs a stainless slide with a blued frame. Beyond the cosmetics, stainless at the slide offers harder wear surfaces at the points of highest friction and corrosion exposure, while the steel frame keeps weight where it helps manage the 9mm’s lighter recoil impulse. Running 9mm through a Government-length platform gives the cartridge additional dwell time compared to a Commander or Officer-length build, which translates to a smoother, more consistent cycling impulse across a wider range of ammunition pressures.
The ambidextrous thumb safety and upswept beavertail grip safety mean the pistol works correctly from either hand without modification, and the grip safety geometry encourages a high, consistent hold that keeps the bore axis as low as possible. G10 grip panels provide a positive purchase in a variety of conditions without requiring skateboard tape or aftermarket panels. One 9-round magazine is included. This is a full-size duty-formatted 1911 suited to competitors, experienced pistol shooters moving to an optic-ready platform, and anyone who wants Colt’s Government model without the additional step of a slide cut.
