It starts from the Series 70 firing system, which omits the firing pin block found in Series 80 designs. That means the trigger linkage is mechanically simpler — fewer parts between the trigger break and the hammer fall — which tends to produce a cleaner reset and a crisper let-off, qualities that matter when you are calling each shot in a stage.

The Novak adjustable fiber optic sights are the practical choice for a competition-oriented pistol. The rear sight adjusts for both windage and elevation, so you can dial the gun to your load rather than reshoot until you find ammunition that prints to a fixed point of aim. The fiber optic front gathers ambient light aggressively, giving you a bright, fast sight picture under indoor range lighting where iron sights often turn grey and indistinct.

The two-tone finish pairs a stainless slide against a blued or similarly contrasting frame. Beyond the visual distinction, the contrast between the two surfaces makes it immediately obvious whether the slide is in battery — useful at the speed competition shooting demands.

Single-action-only operation means the hammer must be cocked before the first shot, but it also means every pull is identical: no change in trigger weight between the first round and the last.
