Description

Federal’s Syntech PCC load was developed specifically for pistol caliber carbines, not as a repackaged handgun round. The distinction matters because a longer barrel extracts more velocity from a given powder charge, and a load tuned for a handgun’s shorter barrel will often leave powder still burning when the bullet exits a carbine’s muzzle — wasting energy and producing excessive muzzle flash. Syntech PCC addresses this by optimizing its propellant charge for carbine barrel lengths, so the velocity figure you get reflects what the round is actually designed to deliver from that platform.

The 130-grain bullet is heavier than the 115-grain loads common in practice ammunition, which helps stabilize the projectile at the velocities typical of carbine-length barrels and contributes to a flatter, more consistent trajectory at the distances where PCC competition stages are set. The flat-nose profile of the Syntech Jacket bullet feeds reliably across a wide range of carbine magazine wells and feed ramps, and the flat meplat limits splash-back when engaging steel targets — a practical concern at close-range competition stages.

The Total Synthetic Jacket replaces the copper or brass envelopes found on conventional FMJ ammunition with a polymer coating. Copper fouling builds up in the bore over long strings of fire and eventually degrades accuracy until the barrel is cleaned; without metal-on-metal contact, that fouling simply does not accumulate in the same way, and bore temperatures stay lower during sustained shooting. Federal’s Catalyst primer completes the package by providing consistent ignition without lead compounds, which reduces the airborne contaminants generated at the firing line. Sold in boxes of 50.
