Description
Federal’s All-American line is built specifically for competitive clay target shooting — trap and skeet — where consistency from one shell to the next matters more than raw power. This load is engineered for shooters who put a serious round count downrange and need a shell that patterns predictably and handles comfortably over a long session.
The centerpiece of the design is the Podium wad, which Federal developed specifically for straight-wall hulls. Most wads are adapted from designs that tolerate a range of hull geometries; the Podium is matched to this hull from the start. Its compression zone absorbs the acceleration force at ignition, which reduces the shock transmitted to the shot column. The practical result is that pellets exit in a more uniform mass with less deformation, which tightens patterns at typical trap and skeet distances.
The shot itself is high-antimony lead, a harder alloy than standard lead. Harder shot resists deformation as it travels down the bore, and rounder pellets fly more predictably and retain velocity better than pellets that have been flattened or scratched during ignition. The 1 1/8 oz payload at 1,200 fps sits in a well-established range for trap competition — enough pellet density to break targets reliably without producing recoil that builds fatigue during a long round. Federal loads 394 pellets per shell at this shot size, giving you a dense pattern without running excessively heavy. Shells are packed 25 to a box.
