The solution is the Podium wad, a one-piece design engineered specifically for straight-wall hulls. Its compression zone absorbs the initial pressure spike when the powder charge fires, which reduces pellet deformation before the payload even leaves the hull. Deformed pellets destabilize in flight and open patterns unpredictably — the tighter the shot column stays through the bore, the more consistent the pattern at the plate.

The shot itself is high-antimony lead, a harder alloy than standard lead. Harder shot resists deformation through the forcing cone and choke, which tightens patterns further and gives you more predictable breaks at distance. This matters more in skeet, where angles vary, than in straightforward trap, but both disciplines benefit from a consistent center of pattern density.

At 7/8 oz pushed to 1,200 fps in a 20-gauge shell, this load sits squarely in the range that major trap and skeet competitions accept, so it works for registered shoots without reclassification concerns.
