Federal’s Estate Super Sport is a competition target load built around the demands of clay sports — trap, skeet, and sporting clays — where shooters run high round counts and need consistent performance without paying a premium for field or hunting loads. The 25-round box format makes it easy to track round counts across stations or squads.

The load uses a progressive-burning powder formulation, which builds pressure more gradually than a fast-burning powder. That translates to a smoother, more manageable impulse at the shooter’s face and shoulder over the course of a long day on the range. The perforated wad is designed to peel away cleanly from the shot column after leaving the muzzle, reducing pellet deformation and keeping the pattern more consistent through the choke.

Federal specifies magnum-grade multi-screened shot for this load. Screening removes irregular pellets before they’re charged, so the shot charge going into each hull is more uniform in size and roundness than bulk, unscreened lead. That uniformity carries directly into pattern density and evenness — relevant when a breaking clay requires a consistent distribution of pellets across the spread rather than a few dense clusters with gaps between them.

The hull uses a biaxially-oriented plastic construction with a brass-plated metal head. Biaxial orientation means the plastic has been stretched in two directions during manufacture, which improves the hull’s elasticity and dimensional stability through the firing cycle. For high-volume shooters running semi-automatics, that means more reliable extraction and fewer feed interruptions. Muzzle velocity comes in at 1,180 fps — measured at the muzzle — which keeps the load within the velocity limits of most registered clay target competitions while still delivering adequate energy to break targets reliably.
