Description
Federal’s Game-Shok Hi-Brass line is built for upland hunters who work dogs through heavy cover and need a round that will perform shot after shot without fuss. The Hi-Brass designation reflects the taller brass head on the hull, which is engineered to handle higher chamber pressures and helps the shell feed and extract cleanly in older 16-gauge actions that may have tighter tolerances or heavier extractors.
The payload is #6 shot, a size that strikes a practical balance for mixed-bag upland hunting — tight enough patterns for closer flushes in brushy terrain, and enough pellet count and energy to reach birds that get up at distance. At 1,295 fps, this load moves fast enough to keep lead calculations manageable on crossing shots without demanding anything unusual from the shooter or the gun.
Federal’s one-piece wad is designed to maintain consistent shot column geometry from the moment of ignition through the muzzle, which matters directly for pattern efficiency at hunting distances. The round shot is formulated for consistent hardness throughout the charge, which reduces deformation during setback and helps pellets arrive at the target in a more uniform shape — a meaningful factor when you’re depending on pattern density rather than individual pellet energy. A non-corrosive primer rounds out the design, so routine field cleaning keeps the bore in good shape without any special chemistry. Each box contains 25 rounds, and cases run ten boxes.
