Description
Federal Premium Prairie Storm FS Lead is built for upland hunters who want consistent, ethical performance from a 28-gauge over-under or side-by-side. The engineering centers on two cooperating systems: the FLITECONTROL FLEX wad and the FLITESTOPPER pellet payload.
The FLITECONTROL FLEX wad opens from the rear rather than the front, which keeps the shot column intact longer after it leaves the muzzle before the wad peels away. That delayed separation tends to produce tighter, more uniform patterns than a conventional wad allows, and it does so through any choke constriction — cylinder through full — without requiring a specialized tube. That flexibility matters when you are hunting behind dogs and switching between dense cover and open fields on the same morning.
The payload itself is a deliberate mix: roughly 70 percent standard copper-plated lead and 30 percent FLITESTOPPER pellets. FLITESTOPPER pellets carry a ring cut around their equator that disrupts tissue on impact, widening the wound channel beyond what a round ball of the same diameter would create. The combination is designed to produce edge-to-edge pattern density while also maximizing lethality per pellet that connects — useful in a 28-gauge where payload weight is limited by physics and bore size. At 1,300 fps the load retains enough velocity at realistic upland ranges that pellet energy does not fall off prematurely. Twenty-five rounds per box, ten boxes per case for those planning a full season or a driven bird hunt.
