Federal Premium Trophy Copper is built for hunters who need a single load that performs reliably across a wide range of shot distances and animal sizes, from whitetail deer to elk and larger North American big game. The bullet is machined from copper rather than bonded lead-core construction, which is what allows it to retain up to 99 percent of its original weight even after passing through heavy muscle and bone. That weight retention translates directly into deeper, straighter wound channels and more consistent energy transfer at the terminal end.

The polymer tip does two things: it initiates reliable expansion even at reduced impact velocities — important for longer shots where the bullet has shed speed — and it raises the ballistic coefficient, which flattens the trajectory and reduces wind deflection at distance. The boat-tail base works alongside the tip to maintain that higher BC consistently through flight. Federal also cuts grooves into the bullet shank, which reduces bearing surface contact with the bore and has the practical effect of improving accuracy across a wider variety of rifle chambers and barrel conditions than a plain-shank copper projectile typically delivers.
