Fiocchi’s Hyperformance SBR line exists specifically for shooters running shorter-barreled carbines where conventional ammunition tends to underperform. Most rifle loads are optimized for 16-inch or longer barrels, where there is enough dwell time for the propellant to burn completely. Push those loads through a shorter barrel and you get unburned powder, elevated muzzle flash, and velocity that falls well short of what the bullet needs to stabilize and expand reliably. Fiocchi engineered the powder charge in this load to reach full combustion within a 7.5-inch barrel, which means the short-barrel penalty is largely neutralized before the bullet leaves the muzzle.

The projectile is a 77-grain hollow point boat tail. Heavier bullets in .223 carry more downrange momentum and are less susceptible to wind deflection than lighter loads, which matters particularly at the reduced velocities a short barrel produces. The boat tail base reduces base drag, which helps the bullet retain velocity through its flight path. At 77 grains, this is also toward the upper end of what .223 chambers are typically loaded with, so the combination of weight and efficient propellant burn helps recover meaningful terminal energy despite the shorter barrel’s constraints.

Muzzle velocity is rated at 2,750 fps, with a ballistic coefficient of .372. The load is packaged 20 rounds per box and is oriented toward personal defense and professional duty applications where a compact platform is the chosen tool. If your carbine runs a longer barrel, this ammunition still functions correctly — the fast-burning powder simply reaches peak pressure earlier in the bore than a standard load would.
