Federal’s Fusion MSR line was built around one specific problem: standard hunting bullets designed for bolt-action rifles don’t always perform reliably when fired through the shorter barrels and gas systems common to modern sporting rifles. This load addresses that directly, with propellants chosen for their burn rate rather than adapted from existing rifle recipes. Fast-burning, low-flash powder generates the velocity the bullet needs through typical MSR barrel lengths, without the excessive muzzle flash that slower powders produce when unburned in a short tube.

The 150-grain Fusion Soft Point bullet is constructed by molecularly bonding the jacket to a pressure-formed lead core. That process eliminates the mechanical crimp or adhesive used in conventional cup-and-core bullets, which means the jacket stays with the core under the stresses of terminal expansion rather than peeling away.
