Description

The Geissele USASOC Airborne Charging Handle was developed in direct response to a request from an elite unit whose mission profile centers on aerial insertion — environments where any protrusion that catches on a harness, rig, or doorframe is a liability. The result is a charging handle built around a deliberately shortened lever geometry rather than the extended, easy-to-grab levers common on most aftermarket handles. That trade-off is intentional: what you give up in raw surface area you recover in a profile that moves cleanly through confined spaces and across body-worn equipment.

The levers are dual-contoured, meaning they are shaped with concave radius cuts in both planes rather than left flat. That geometry, combined with a checkered surface texture, allows a positive grip through heavy gloves or in wet conditions without adding bulk. The ambidextrous design uses two independent latches rather than a single extended latch on one side, so the manipulation geometry is consistent regardless of which hand is working the handle.

At the rear of the handle, a raised fence redirects propellant gas rearward and away from the shooter’s face — a practical consideration when running a short-barreled upper or a suppressor, both of which tend to push more gas back through the charging handle channel than a standard-length rifle barrel. The body is 3D machined from a single billet of 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in Type-3 hardcoat anodize, which provides a harder, more abrasion-resistant surface than standard Type-2 anodizing. Markings are minimal by design: roll-marked manufacturer name and NSN number only, consistent with the low-signature intent of the USASOC specification. The handle weighs 1.42 oz.
