The bullet in this load is Hornady’s ELD Match, which is built around a polymer Heat Shield tip. Standard polymer tips deform under aerodynamic heating during flight, which changes the bullet’s drag profile unpredictably and opens up groups at distance. The Heat Shield material resists that deformation, so the tip geometry stays consistent from muzzle to target. That consistency is what allows Hornady to publish tight ballistic coefficient figures that actually hold at extended range rather than degrading as the bullet travels downrange.

The ELD Match also features an AMP jacket with uniform wall thickness throughout, which controls how the jacket and lead core behave together under the rifling’s engraving pressure. Uniform jacket walls reduce the variation in bullet seating and bearing surface from round to round, and that consistency translates directly into tighter standard deviations in velocity — the single largest driver of vertical dispersion at distance. The boat tail base reduces base drag and aids in stabilization at transonic and subsonic transition speeds. Cases are brass and boxer-primed, so handloaders can recover and reload them.
