Description

Hornady’s LEVERevolution line was built to solve a genuine problem: traditional lever-action ammunition uses flat or round-nosed bullets because pointed tips, stacked in a tubular magazine, can detonate the primer of the round ahead under recoil. The FTX bullet’s flexible polymer tip compresses on impact rather than transferring that energy forward, which means you get the ballistic advantage of a spitzer-style profile — a higher ballistic coefficient, flatter trajectory, and more retained energy at distance — without any of the safety concerns associated with tubular feeding.

At 225 grains, this load is well suited to deer-sized game and feral hogs, where you want enough sectional density to drive through bone and shoulder without sacrificing too much velocity. The muzzle velocity of 1,410 fps produces 993 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, and because the FTX sheds velocity more slowly than a flat-point of equivalent weight, that energy gap widens in your favor as range increases compared to what conventional .44 Magnum lever-gun loads deliver at the same distances. Hornady rates the increase at roughly 40 percent more energy than traditional flat-point designs.

The load runs in both lever-action rifles and .44 Magnum revolvers, though the velocity figures are derived from rifle barrel length and will be lower out of a handgun. Brass cases are boxer-primed and reloadable. Each box contains 20 rounds.
