Description

Hornady’s Superformance Varmint line is built specifically for hunters who need flat trajectories and rapid terminal performance on small targets at distance. The .22-250 Remington cartridge already sits near the top of the varmint caliber hierarchy for raw speed, and Superformance loads push that further by extracting an additional 100 to 200 feet per second over conventional loads without increasing chamber pressure or producing additional felt recoil — the result of a propellant blend optimized to burn efficiently across a wide range of barrel lengths.

The projectile is Hornady’s V-MAX, a polymer-tipped bullet designed around a specific tension between two competing demands: the tip initiates rapid, consistent expansion on impact to anchor varmints cleanly, while the boat-tail base and streamlined ogive maintain a ballistic coefficient high enough to resist wind deflection across the ranges where this cartridge is commonly used. At a muzzle velocity of 4,000 fps, the 50-grain bullet carries 1,777 ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle and stays supersonic well past typical varmint engagement distances.

Brass cases are Boxer-primed, which means spent brass can be resized and reloaded if you want to develop a reduced or custom handload later. The case geometry and primer pocket are consistent enough that reloaders working up precision loads will find Superformance brass worth keeping. Each box contains 20 rounds.
