The Hornady Superformance Varmint in .243 Winchester with a 75-grain V-MAX bullet is built around one goal: reaching out across open ground and putting varmints down cleanly before they have time to react. The .243 Winchester is already a flat-shooting cartridge with a comfortable recoil impulse, and the Superformance propellant formulation pushes that advantage further by adding roughly 100 to 200 feet per second of muzzle velocity over standard loads — not in a specific barrel length, but consistently across different guns. That velocity gain narrows the margin for ranging errors, keeps the bullet above the wind’s influence longer, and tightens point-of-impact clusters at extended distances.
