On impact, that same tip drives inward to initiate reliable expansion even at the lower velocities a bullet carries at extended distance. The InterLock ring, which mechanically bonds the jacket to the lead core, keeps the bullet together through that expansion rather than shedding mass on impact. For medium to large game at distances where a standard soft-point’s velocity has dropped enough to make terminal performance inconsistent, that retained weight matters.

At 180 grains, this load sits at the heavier end of the practical weight range for .300 Win Mag, which trades a slightly flatter trajectory compared to lighter bullets for deeper penetration and better performance on larger-bodied animals. Muzzle velocity comes in at 3,130 fps, and the resulting muzzle energy of 3,917 ft-lbs gives this load a substantial downrange margin for ethical hunting at distance.
