Description

The HUXWRX RAD Piston is a suppressor mounting piston designed for shooters running host firearms with 1/2×28-threaded muzzles in .223 Rem or 5.56 NATO. Its purpose is straightforward: it forms the interface between a direct-thread or quick-detach suppressor and the host barrel, and the quality of that interface directly affects how consistently the suppressor returns to zero and how securely it stays put under sustained fire.

HUXWRX machines this piston from 17-4 stainless steel, a precipitation-hardened alloy chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to the heat cycling that suppressor pistons endure. A black nitride finish is applied after heat treatment, hardening the surface further and reducing the likelihood of galling at the thread engagement — a relevant consideration given how frequently a piston may be installed and removed. Wrench flats are machined into the body so you can torque it properly without improvising, which matters for maintaining consistent zero across swaps.

The piston is cross-compatible with SilencerCo and Rugged pistons, meaning it fits suppressor bodies from those two manufacturers as well as HUXWRX’s own RAD 9 and RAD 45. For reciprocating-barrel pistols, it can be paired with a piston spring; for fixed-barrel hosts, a fixed barrel spacer takes its place. That distinction is worth understanding before ordering: the piston alone does not determine which configuration you’re running — the host barrel type does.
