KAK Industry’s OE-Spec AR-15 barrel is built for shooters who want a reliable, mil-spec-grade foundation without paying for features they don’t need. It’s a practical choice for a general-purpose carbine — equally at home as a range build or a hard-use defensive rifle.

The mid-length gas system is the defining mechanical choice here. Compared to a carbine-length setup, mid-length spreads the gas impulse over a longer dwell time, which softens the felt recoil pulse and reduces the rate at which fouling is driven back into the action. The result is a smoother-cycling rifle that is somewhat easier on both the shooter and the bolt carrier group over extended strings of fire.

The bore and chamber carry a chrome lining over a phosphate exterior finish. Chrome lining resists corrosion and erosion at the points of highest heat and friction — the chamber and bore — which matters most if the barrel sees heavy use, infrequent cleaning, or storage in humid conditions. The phosphate finish on the exterior provides a matte, low-glare surface with reasonable corrosion resistance of its own.

A 1:7 twist rate stabilizes heavier projectiles reliably — bullets in the 62- to 77-grain range are well-suited to it — though it will also handle standard 55-grain loads without issue. The .750-inch gas block journal and 1/2-28 muzzle threads are standard dimensions that give you broad compatibility with aftermarket gas blocks and muzzle devices. M4 feed ramps on the barrel extension support reliable feeding across a wide range of magazine and ammunition types. The barrel is machined from 41V50 chrome moly vanadium steel and produced entirely in-house from KAK’s own blanks, with air-gauge bore inspection and headspace verification before shipment.
