MDT’s metal AICS magazine for 6mm BR and its close relatives is built for precision rifle shooters who run AICS-compatible chassis or stocks and need a feeding solution that holds up to the demands of a match day. The body is formed from high-strength steel, nitrided through the material, then finished inside and out with Cerakote Elite — a process that works in two directions at once, resisting corrosion from the outside while reducing friction between cartridge and magazine wall on the inside.

The design centers on MDT’s Double Stack to Single Feed transition, commonly called DSSF. Rounds stack in a double column through most of the magazine’s height, which keeps the overall package compact — roughly three-quarters of an inch shorter than a standard AICS 10-round magazine. That shorter profile matters most when shooting prone: the reduced height gives a shooter more room to manipulate the magazine without breaking position or lifting the rifle off the rest. Two internal ribs run the length of the body to further smooth cartridge travel and guide the transition from the double-stack column into the single-feed presentation at the top.

Compatibility extends beyond 6mm BR Norma to include 6mm BRA, 6mm BRX, 6mm Dasher, and 22 BR — a practical consideration given how many Dasher and BR-variant builds share the same chassis footprint. MDT notes through their own testing that these magazines are not plug-and-play with three-lug actions out of the box, though feed lip adjustment can make them work. If you’re running a standard two-lug bolt, there’s nothing to sort out.
