MDT’s AICS-pattern metal magazine is built for precision bolt-action rifles running an AICS-compatible bottom metal, and it addresses a real problem that shooters encounter when working from the prone position. Standard AICS 10-round magazines sit tall enough to create an awkward angle between the shooter and the stock during mag changes; MDT’s Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition geometry allows the magazine body to be roughly three-quarters of an inch shorter in overall height than a conventional AICS 10-round, so the exchange happens lower and with less disruption to position.

The body itself is steel, nitrided through, and then finished inside and out with Cerakote Elite. That layering matters because the interior coating reduces friction as rounds strip from the stack, while the exterior resists the corrosion that comes with field use and skin contact. The feed lips are polymer inserts that extend past a metal backer—the backer provides structural rigidity while the polymer extends cartridge retention further into the feed cycle, keeping the round controlled until the bullet tip has committed to the chamber before the base releases.

Two internal ribs run the length of the body and serve a dual purpose: they reduce the contact surface between cartridge and magazine wall to ease feeding, and they guide the transition from the double-stack arrangement at the base to the single-feed column at the top. Maximum cartridge overall length is 2.50 inches, which covers standard .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO loads.
