MDT’s AICS-pattern metal magazine is built for precision rifle shooters who run AICS-compatible chassis systems or bottom metal and need a magazine that keeps up with demanding round counts without adding unnecessary height to the package. The design uses a Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition, which compresses the stack height compared to a conventional AICS layout — a meaningful advantage when shooting from the prone position, where a taller magazine body can interrupt a natural shooting position or slow a reload.

Construction starts with high-strength steel that is nitrided before the Cerakote Elite finish is applied to both the interior and exterior surfaces. Nitriding hardens the steel and improves wear resistance at the contact points that see the most stress during feeding and stripping. The Cerakote Elite layer over that adds corrosion protection and reduces friction along the feed path, which matters most in field conditions where fouling, moisture, and debris are factors. The 3-round capacity suits hunters and long-range target shooters who prioritize a low-profile fit in the magazine well over extended capacity.

Cartridge overall length compatibility extends to 2.955 inches, accommodating common load configurations for the supported chamberings. These magazines are designed without a front binder plate, which allows use with a broader range of AICS-pattern systems, though MDT notes that notching the feed ramp may be required with some factory actions — Remington 700 footprint actions and their clones are generally already cut for this configuration, but confirming with the action manufacturer is the right call before assuming compatibility.
