Description

MDT’s AICS-pattern metal magazine is built for precision bolt-action rifles running short-action cartridges in the .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor family. The construction starts with high-strength steel, which is then nitride-treated before receiving a Cerakote Elite finish applied both inside and outside the body. That interior coating matters in practice: it reduces friction along the feed path, which contributes to consistent cartridge presentation under the bolt.

The internal geometry uses a Double Stack to Single Feed transition — a DSSF arrangement that keeps overall magazine height lower than a conventional single-feed design while still presenting rounds reliably at the feed lips. This version ships without a front binder plate, which opens up the maximum cartridge overall length to 2.960 inches rather than the 2.870 inches available in the binder-plate variant. That additional headroom is useful for handloaders or anyone running heavier, longer projectiles seated to take advantage of a rifle’s throat. The trade-off is feed-ramp compatibility: common actions like the Remington 700 and Savage 10/11 typically require a notch relieved into the bottom of the feed ramp to prevent bullet tips from contacting it during feeding. If your action is already set up for longer COALs, or if you’re running a chassis with cleared feed geometry, the no-binder-plate configuration is straightforward.

Compatible calibers extend across the .308 Win family — including .243 Win, .260 Rem, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 7mm-08 — making this a useful option for shooters who run multiple chamberings on the same AICS-pattern chassis. The 22-250 Rem will function at reduced capacity. Howa 1500 short-action rifles require minor fitting work for reliable function.
