Description

MDT’s Metal AICS Magazine is built for precision rifle shooters running AICS-pattern chassis systems or bottom metal on short-action platforms. It holds five rounds of .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor, along with several other short-action cartridges including 260 Remington, 7mm-08, 243 Winchester, and 6mm Creedmoor — giving it genuine versatility across common bolt-gun setups.

The body is formed from high-strength steel, then nitrided to harden the surface and resist corrosion before receiving a Cerakote Elite finish applied to both interior and exterior surfaces. The interior coating matters practically: it reduces friction along the cartridge path, which contributes to consistent feeding under sustained use and in adverse conditions.

MDT uses a Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition geometry. A conventional double-stack magazine needs more vertical space to accomplish the same transition, resulting in a taller overall profile. The DSSF design compresses that transition zone, so the magazine sits lower beneath the action — a meaningful advantage for prone shooting where ground clearance is limited and mag swaps need to happen without repositioning.

This version ships with the front binder plate installed. The plate holds cartridges back from the front wall and guides them reliably past the feed ramp, but it caps maximum cartridge overall length at 2.870 inches. If you are loading long for your barrel’s lands, that constraint is worth checking against your loaded rounds before ordering. Rifles with AICS-pattern inlets accept this magazine without modification; Howa 1500 short-action rifles require minor fitting work.
