Wilson Combat has spent three decades building 1911 magazines for shooters who depend on them under serious conditions — military special operations units and federal law enforcement teams have run these magazines in the field. The Elite Tactical Magazine for the compact 1911 platform carries that same design intent into a format suited to shorter-grip pistols, where reliable feeding is harder to achieve than in full-size configurations.

The tube is stainless steel with .025-inch walls, which is thick enough to resist the deformation that causes feeding failures and feed-lip spread under sustained use or repeated drops. Thicker walls also allow the magazine to remain fully loaded for extended periods without the spring compression and tube stress that can eventually compromise a thinner design. The tradeoff for that durability is modest added weight, but for a carry or duty magazine that is a reasonable exchange.

Compact 1911s in 9mm present a specific geometry challenge: the shorter grip frame limits magazine length, and 9mm’s tapered case requires careful follower and feed-lip geometry to run reliably in a single-stack platform designed around .45 ACP proportions. Wilson Combat’s follower and spring design addresses this directly, promoting consistent cartridge presentation to the chamber regardless of round count.
