Most SIG P320 owners running the factory magazine have no complaints — until they do. Environments with carbon buildup, corrosion exposure, or high round counts are where a polymer-body magazine can become a liability. The Magpul AMAG 17 SG9 addresses that by swapping the body material entirely: the shell is heat-treated stainless-steel alloy rather than polymer, so it resists deformation and corrosion in conditions that would compromise a standard mag. The rest of the design carries over Magpul’s established PMAG architecture in alloy form, so the reliability logic is familiar even if the material isn’t.
The follower uses a controlled-tilt geometry, which keeps the round presenting at a consistent angle through the full stack — this matters most at the bottom of the magazine, where feed-angle problems tend to concentrate. The spring is stainless steel. The floorplate is flared for positive purchase during a reload and removes without tools for cleaning. Capacity-indicator windows start at five rounds and step up in single-round increments along the spine, so round count reads quickly under any lighting. A paint-pen dot matrix is molded into the body for marking individual magazines in a multi-mag system.
This is a straightforward choice for P320 shooters who want a metal-body magazine — not as a novelty but as a deliberate trade-off that accepts a modest weight penalty in exchange for a more durable shell. It ships in Magpul’s SST finish and is made in the USA.
