Description
The Magpul Hunter American Stock is built for hunters and precision shooters who want to get meaningfully more out of a Ruger American short-action rifle without committing to a full chassis system. The factory Ruger American stock is functional but leaves real performance on the table: its plastic bedding surface allows the action to shift slightly under recoil, which compounds shot-to-shot inconsistency at distance. Magpul addresses this with a machine-finished, Type III hard anodized A380 aluminum bedding block that cradles the action without requiring any hand-bedding compound—the shooter drops the barreled action in and the fit is done.
High-strength steel recoil lugs transfer energy away from the polymer shell and into the bedding block itself, keeping the interface stable across varying temperatures and after extended use. The forend is free-floating, so barrel harmonics stay consistent regardless of how the rifle is rested or gripped. M-LOK slots along the forend sides and bottom let the shooter add a bipod, sling mount, or other accessories without adapters.
Length of pull adjusts from 13.0 to 15.0 inches via spacers, and comb height is independently adjustable—useful when switching between a scope with a tall mount and one sitting closer to the bore, or when different shooters share the rifle. A push-button QD swivel socket in the rear keeps sling attachment clean. The stock ships in Flat Dark Earth and is made in the USA from reinforced polymer with the aluminum bedding block. It is compatible with barrel profiles up to medium Palma, so most factory Ruger American short-action barrels drop straight in. The included Bolt Action Magazine Well supports the Ruger American’s detachable box magazine without modification.
