The semi-jacketed soft point flat nose design leaves a portion of the lead core exposed at the tip, which initiates expansion on impact without requiring the velocity thresholds that some hollow point designs demand. That makes it a practical choice for hunting applications where shots may be taken at moderate distances or through light cover.

The partial copper jacket controls expansion and limits lead fouling in the bore compared to bare lead projectiles, while the flat nose profile aids in feeding through tubular magazines common on lever-action rifles chambered in .357 Magnum. At 158 grains, this bullet sits at the heavier end of the common .357 Magnum weight range, which generally translates to deeper penetration and a flatter trajectory trade-off relative to lighter projectiles — useful when the target is a deer-sized animal or when you need more consistent performance through intermediate barriers.

Magtech manufactures its own brass, primers, powder, and projectiles at a vertically integrated facility in São Paulo, Brazil, which gives the company direct control over consistency across every component in the cartridge. The brass cases are Boxer-primed, meaning they are fully reloadable with standard single-decapping dies — a practical consideration if you shoot enough volume to make handloading worthwhile.
