The load pairs a 125-grain Lead Round Nose projectile with brass cases and a small pistol primer, producing a traditional configuration that has kept training costs manageable for decades of revolver shooters.

The LRN bullet design is a deliberate choice for this application. Its smooth, exposed-lead profile feeds reliably in revolvers and cylinders without the friction concerns that can arise with jacketed bullets in certain older barrel profiles. The softer lead also keeps fouling behavior predictable, making cleanup straightforward after extended range sessions. The trade-off relative to jacketed bullets is a slightly lower ballistic coefficient—Magtech lists this load at 0.139—which means the round sheds velocity faster at distance, but at practical revolver ranges that is rarely a meaningful factor.

Muzzle velocity runs 686 fps from a 4-inch barrel, producing 131 ft-lbs of energy. That is a mild, controllable pressure curve, which makes the load well suited to high-volume practice where fatigue and follow-up speed matter more than terminal performance.
