Description
The MDT Field Stock is built for Savage short-action rifle owners who want a meaningful accuracy and ergonomics upgrade without moving to a full chassis system. It suits hunters and long-range shooters who prefer the handling feel of a traditional stock but want the structural advantages that a purpose-built precision platform provides.
At the core of the stock is a 6061 aluminum skeleton with an integrated V-block bedding system. That bedding matters because it replaces the inconsistent wood-to-metal or plastic-to-metal contact of a factory stock with a precisely mated aluminum-on-aluminum connection, reducing how much the stock’s expansion and contraction with temperature and humidity affects point of impact. The barrel channel is fully free-floating, which removes contact forces along the barrel that can shift groups as the barrel heats up during a string of fire. The exterior is overmolded polymer, which keeps weight down and stays noticeably warmer to the touch than bare aluminum in cold weather — a practical consideration for anyone sitting a cold-morning stand or glassing a mountain basin.
Fit is adjustable in two directions: the cheek riser moves vertically so your eye drops consistently behind the scope, and length of pull is set through removable spacers, letting you tune the stock to your build rather than adapting your form to a fixed dimension. Both adjustments reinforce the same goal — a consistent head position shot to shot is one of the more reliable ways to eliminate shooter-induced variation at distance.
The M-LOK forend gives you flexibility for accessories without permanent modification, and the AICS-pattern magazine well means you have broad compatibility with widely available detachable box magazines. Front and rear sling swivel studs are included, so basic field carry is covered out of the box. The finish is Flat Dark Earth.
