Description

The MDT HNT-26 is a chassis system built from the ground up for hunters who want the precision advantages of a chassis platform without carrying the weight penalty that comes with most of them. Where MDT’s earlier chassis lines were adapted by hunters after the fact, the HNT-26 was designed specifically for that use case from the start — a meaningful difference in how every component choice gets made.

The chassis body is machined from AZ61A magnesium alloy, a material that offers structural rigidity at a fraction of the mass of aluminum. The forend, grip, and buttstock are carbon fiber, with the buttstock foam-filled to absorb vibration and deaden the mechanical noise that matters when you are close to game. Carbon fiber also stays warmer to the touch than metal in cold conditions, which is a practical comfort consideration on a hunting platform. The forend integrates an ARCA rail directly, so the rifle mounts to a tripod head or ARCA-compatible support without a separate clamp or adapter — a design that reflects how mountain and backcountry hunters have shifted toward tripods as primary shooting support.

The folding stock configuration keeps overall length manageable during a pack-in, and the chassis includes length-of-pull and comb height adjustment so it can be fitted to the shooter rather than the other way around. Barrel fit accommodates up to 1.25 inches in diameter, which leaves room for heavier hunting profiles. Bedding is handled through a v-block system, and the magazine interface follows the AICS pattern for broad ammunition compatibility. The low-profile magazine latch is recessed into the trigger guard area to reduce snag points in brush and heavy cover.
