Description

The MDT XRS chassis is built for Howa 1500 short-action shooters who want a precision-capable platform without committing to a heavier, more expensive competition build. It suits hunters moving into long-range work as much as it suits dedicated target shooters who need room to grow their setup over time.

The core is machined from 6061 aluminum, which keeps the chassis rigid enough to maintain consistent bedding pressure on the action without adding the weight of a steel frame. A high-strength polymer shell wraps that core, trimming overall mass while protecting the aluminum from contact wear. That combination matters when the chassis is the primary interface between the action and every accessory hanging off it.

The 12-inch M-LOK handguard gives enough real estate to position a bipod well forward of the action, which helps manage the lever effect of a heavy barrel and keeps the support hand in a more neutral position under the forend. The adjustable cheek riser lets the shooter bring eye level to the scope rather than craning the neck, which becomes important during extended strings where fatigue compounds small alignment errors. Length of pull is also adjustable, so the stock can be fitted properly rather than compensated for.

The pistol grip interface accepts configurable grips, meaning the grip angle is not fixed at whatever the factory decided. The chassis accepts a detachable box magazine, and two QD flush-cup sockets are integrated for sling work. Maximum barrel diameter of 1.25 inches accommodates most aftermarket heavy-profile barrels on the Howa 1500 footprint, including the Weatherby Vanguard, which shares that action pattern. The Flat Dark Earth finish is MDT’s own designation for this colorway.
