Description

The stainless steel tube is heat-treated, which increases surface hardness without sacrificing the dimensional consistency the 1911 platform demands for reliable feeding. Stainless construction also resists corrosion under sweat, humidity, and field conditions where a blued magazine would require more maintenance attention.

Inside, a high-tensile music wire spring maintains consistent feed pressure across the full eight rounds, which matters in a single-stack design where a weakening spring at low round count is one of the more common sources of malfunctions. The high-impact polymer follower reduces friction against the tube walls and keeps the round presentation angle consistent as the stack drops. Numbered witness holes on the body let you confirm round count without stripping the magazine from the gun.

The removable polymer baseplate makes field stripping straightforward — a practical consideration when cleaning carbon and debris from a magazine that sees regular range use. Because Mec-Gar produces OEM magazines for a number of major pistol manufacturers, the dimensional tolerances are built to factory specification rather than approximated from published drawings.
